Porcelain Jewellery

£90.00

Tutor: Rhi Jarman

Date & Time: Saturday 7th February, 10am - 4pm

Join ceramic artist Rhi Jarman to create and decorate your own jewellery using porcelain paper clay.

In this workshop, you will learn a variety of techniques and approaches to make and decorate porcelain pendants that can be used for necklaces, earrings or bracelets. Rhi will demonstrate how to make beads, flat pendants with templates, and 3D shapes using press moulds. There will be a variety of decorating options to create pattern and texture, including mark making and sgraffito (carving), plus the opportunity to add colour with oxides and underglaze.

You can choose up to three pieces to be decorated with shiny transparent glaze following the workshop. The rest of your work can be bisque or stoneware fired if requested. Your pieces will be ready in a month for you to collect and transform into unique jewellery. Some jump rings to fasten jewellery will be provided, but chains/earring hooks are not.

What will I learn?

Hand building and press mould techniques, fettling and decorating.

Who is this workshop for?

The workshop is suitable for complete beginners, or for novice or intermediate potters to gain confidence using porcelain or to expand their decorating skills.
